Sedbergh Natural Flood Management – Phase 1

March 2021

With funding from the Environment Agency through their Cumbria NFM programme, we carried out a Natural Flood Management project at Sedbergh. In conjunction with the landowner, Yorkshire Dales National Park, and local contractors we constructed 17 leaky dams, improved a small attenuation pond, and repaired/ improved several hedgerows and kested hedgerows. These interventions were carried out at the foot of the fells above Sedbergh, with the aim of reducing flood risk in Sedbergh. We completed the first phase of the project in March 2021, and have since secure funding for a second phase.
