Rais Beck Natural Flood Management

March 2021

With funding from the Environment Agency through their Cumbria NFM programme, we undertook a Natural Flood Management project at the hamlet of Raisbeck, near Tebay. Working with a local farmer, we installed 19 leaky dams, improved the storage capacity of an existing pond, and planted 500 trees. These interventions were on Rais Beck itself and one of its tributaries, and aim to reduce flooding in Raisbeck hamlet and at nearby Raisgill Hall. We completed the project in March 2021.
