Keer Regeneration Project with First TransPennine Express

Page 6 Keer Project: First Trans-Pennine Express Green Grants

This year we have come together to restore a footpath along the Keer next to Pine Lake Resort.   It is no exaggeration to say that the path was impassable when we first arrived!!!  So far work parties have cleared Himalayan Balsam, removed litter, planted trees and sown seeds.   Bird, owl and bat boxes have been installed and a litter bin is now firmly in place.  Regular use and maintenance of the paths and riverbank is vital to the continued success of these projects and the future of the wildlife there.

One of the most rewarding things was to see people using the path only a short time after we’d finished.  Our aspiration is to promote this footpath as a circular walk, encouraging people to value the area and look after it.  Please let everyone know the path is open again!

Very special thanks need to go to our dedicated team of support including Pine Lake for feeding us hot food, Carnforth Anglers, the Keer Regeneration Group  and Carnforth Rotary.  We have also been offered the opportunity to permanently market the Lune Rivers Trust Work within the Pine Lake Resort.

For anybody wishing to get involved with further Keer event days, our aim is to meet on the second Monday of each month.  For further details check our website or contact our Living Lune Engagement Officer, Louisa Blundell on 07814 694129 or
