EA Coarse Fisheries – Together Possible

This Off-River Spawning Unit or ORSU off the Lansil section of the Lune had fallen into disrepair.  The project – working with Lancashire County Council, the Environment Agency, Costain and the Lansil Angling Club – is to restore and repair the spawning side channels and pond here.  Its restoration will provide sheltered, protected spawning areas for dace, bream, gudgeon, roach/bream hybrids and pike.  The project will also promote community and youth involvement with the environment through Lansil Angling Club.  There are currently 47 members 9 of whom are coarse anglers, but there is no junior section.  The club is very keen to address this and encourage the uptake of coarse fishing as a sport, including and a taster day for juniors to be held in late July.
