The Lower Lune Action Fund
This project was funded by the Catchment Partnership Action Fund (which also still funds us to host the Living Lune Catchment Partnership).
Working closely with Liz Graydon and Dusty Rhodes (Catchment Sensitive Farming Officers for the area), the EA and the local farming community, this project is addressing the water quality issues on the Conder, Cocker and Overton Dyke. All 3 water bodies had significant problems with diffuse pollution from agriculture as well as with sedimentation and erosion caused by stock in the water.
During the project we have excluded stock from 8 different sites and fenced off over 4,000 metres of riverbank. We are particularly pleased with the parallel water gates that we have used for the first time to allow stock to drink – an approach learnt when we visited the Wye and Usk Foundation for a Rivers Trust Conference.
