logo_life[1]We are proud to be part of The North West Life Integrated Project (worth 20 million euro) which has now been fully approved by the European Commission.

The project has been designed by the Environment Agency in partnership with United Utilities, the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities, the Rivers Trust and Natural England to integrate water management approaches in the North West and work together to tackle the issues and challenges of the Water Framework Directive. It will run over 10 years and aims to promote more innovative solutions with multiple benefits for improving water quality, flood risk management and natural capital in the North West. In particular, the project will address man-made barriers to fish movement that hold back achievement of “good” ecological status for the region’s water bodies, as required by the Water Framework Directive. The Lune Rivers Trust has prioritised Skerton and Upper and Lower Bentham weirs with others to follow.
