Bashing the Balsam

June 2014

953Ripley-Balsam-BashWe were delighted to be invited to speak to a group of Year 7 students at Ripley St. Thomas Church of England  Academy, Lancaster. Not content with listening to the damage Invasive Non-native Species such as Himalayan Balsam can do to our watercourses, they decided to hold their own “Balsam Bash” at the nearby Burrow Beck. Working hard all morning they managed to clear a sizable section near Hala and even had a competition to find the tallest Himalayan Balsam! Well done, Ripley and keep up the good work!
